Thurgood, Starring Laurence Fishburne, Adjusts Broadway Dates

The forthcoming Broadway production of George Stevens Jr.'s Thurgood, starring Tony winner and Academy Award nominee Laurence Fishburne as Supreme Court Justice Thurgood Marshall, has announced new dates for previews and opening night at the Booth Theatre. The play, which had previously announced a March 30 start date, will now begin previews on April 12 and open on April 30, directed by Leonard Foglia.

Thurgood premiered in 2006 at the Westport Country Playhouse, starring James Earl Jones and directed by Foglia. The play is a biographical portrait of Marshall, which includes his childhood in Baltimore and his service as chief counsel of the NAACP, for which he argued the landmark Brown vs. Board of Education desegregation case in 1954. Marshall became the first African-American member of the Supreme Court in 1967 and died in 1993.
